This program provides knowledge and skills for nurse aides to assume the role and responsibility required in a long term care setting. The focus is communication, infection control, safety, resident/patient rights, and basic nursing skills.

1. How much does the class cost?
The tuition for the class is based on the regular tuition rate at Ashland Community & Technical College. As of today, the tuition is $531.00 + $11.00 Liability Insurance Fee. The tuition rate is subject to change with any change in the tuition rate.

Class Requirements Checklist
All of the following requirements must be met to be eligible to successfully complete the Nurse Aide Course:
1. Purchase a Textbook:
You will need to purchase a book prior to the first day of class. This can be purchased at our bookstore, and it will cost approximately $102.80.

Mosby's Workbook for Long-term Care Assistants (7th ed.). St. Louis, MO: Mosby-Elesvier, Inc.
Book should be purchased at Ashland Community & Technical College book store. You will receive a text book and a workbook (state package) for $102.80. The workbook is required and must be new.
2. Required Medical Records/Immunization Records:
Below you will find a list of items that MUST be completed within the first week of class. You can either go to your own physician or the nearest health department to get the PPD (Two Step Tuberculosis TB Test) which is required for all nursing programs. **Please make sure all the items listed are ready to turn in the first day of class (if possible) because of the time frame you will be working with and it is mandatory all is done prior to Clinical in the long-term care facility:
- PPD (Two-Step) or proof if you have had one in the last 12 months, or chest x-ray if you cannot be tested. This will require you going back to the physician within 48-72 hours so they can check the site for reaction (if you get the PPD).
- Hepatitis is recommended but not required
- The Flu shot is recommended but not required
3. Other Required and/or Recommended Items:
- Scrubs - The color must be ceil blue.
- Tennis shoes (vinyl or leather) or nursing shoes
Scrubs and appropriate shoes must be worn during class time and clinicals. Please make sure to purchase these scrubs within two weeks after the beginning of class. You are not required to wear them on the first day of class.
