Our focus at ACTC extends to students at all educational levels. We are primarily concerned with providing the quality academic education and support services that our enrolled students need to succeed in college. We are also aware of our ability to help pre-college students understand the need for postsecondary education.

In addition to academic classes and services, ACTC provides activities that can help students connect to the college, network with fellow students and develop interpersonal and leadership skills. Even though we are a commuter school, our goal is to provide a variety of opportunities for student involvement and development.

I'm pleased to announce that Community College Week has listed Ashland Community and Technical College as a 2016 Top 100 Two-Year Institution in the number of one-year certificates awarded. This is the fourth consecutive year that we have been listed in that category.

Several events this month underscore the tremendous impact that our community supporters have on enhancing college programs and services. Over the years, our benefactors and supporters have helped many college initiatives, programs and scholarships.

Fall semester is well underway, and our campuses are humming with activity. Faculty are teaching classes and mentoring students, and students are attending classes, labs and tutoring sessions. Admissions and counseling staff are registering students for bi-term courses that start October 17.

Education of the workforce is an important part of our mission at ACTC. For many decades, the college has offered career programs for immediate employment after graduation as well as transfer programs for baccalaureate degrees.

Graduation is always a time of celebration, and this year is no exception. More than 700 Ashland Community and Technical College students earned a credential during the academic year and are now ready to move on to a job or to a transfer institution.
