February 18, a team of ACTC representatives traveled to Frankfort with me to participate in the KCTCS Business Champions Rally. The rally in the Capitol Rotunda was part of the KCTCS Fuel the Force advocacy campaign to increase state support for public postsecondary education. Joining me in visiting our legislators were John C. Stewart, Jr., Chair of the ACTC Business Champions Council, and Deans Willie McCullough, Steve Woodburn and John McGlone.

In the past ten years, ACTC has served more than 9,000 first generation college students and has increased the number of degrees and credentials awarded by over 150%. Since 2006, Workforce Solutions has served 22,106 credit/non-credit and assessment students and 5,428 Community Education students. These are impressive numbers that show how well we are achieving our educational mission. The 9% budget cuts proposed by Governor Bevin for the next two years will make it difficult for us to achieve that level of success in the future. The Legislature will be finalizing the biennial budget in the next few weeks, and your input is important.
