Community is Part of Our Name
April 20, 2016
Two events this month reminded me about how important community partnerships are in helping us reach our educational, workforce service and community development goals. The Job and Career Fair served our students and area residents who are seeking jobs while providing employers with the chance to meet potential employees. The annual tree give-away offered a service learning experience for our students and a community service opportunity for faculty and staff while supporting a local environmental improvement effort.
Over the past year, numerous other partnerships have helped us expand services to youth and high school students as well as our own students. We have worked with Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Kentucky and local supporters for the Science Fair, Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America and SOAR for the Young Women LEAD Conference, Rotary Clubs for Career Exploration Day and Pathways for educational events at the college.
"Communityā€¯ is part of our name for good reason. We are supported by the community, and we offer support to the community. These collaborations, in addition to our partnerships with business/industry and education institutions, expand our ability to serve the people and institutions in our area.
