Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW
Marathon Petroleum Corporation LP, a major petroleum refiner and marketer, is hiring for a Laboratory Technician to join our team. The work schedule for this position is a 12-hour rotating shift that includes working days, nights, weekends, and holidays. This position will require callouts and overtime which would include after business hours, weekends, and holidays. This position will be provided with continuous training to develop job related skills. A successful person in this position will be collaborative, reliable, motivated, and prioritize safety. This is a position to permanently replace workers who are currently striking at the St Paul Park Refinery.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Testing of refining feedstock and intermediates to assist with daily refinery operations Finished product testing to ensure compliance with industry standard specifics Data interpretation and reporting Application of QA/QC protocols to ensure high data accuracy Basic instrumentation troubleshooting Executing work in a safe and environmentally responsible manner

Skills Required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
B.S. or B.A. in Chemistry or related science Strong analytical chemistry skills with emphasis on modern instrumental analysis (GC, UV/Vis, NIR, IC, DSR) Working knowledge and application of wet chemistry Ability to follow procedures outlined by ASTM, AASHTO, EPA, and UOP Extensive experience utilizing PCs and MS Office Suites (Excel, Word, Outlook) Ability to work rotating shifts
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Two years of experience with laboratories in an industrial setting Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) experience
