Position Overview

The St. Paul Park Refinery has a full-time opening for a Rotating Equipment Mechanic, an hourly position which reports to the Maintenance Foreman.  The Rotating Equipment Mechanic’s main job duties are to perform job tasks that maintain the refinery’s critical pumps, compressors, blowers, etc. along with other duties and projects as assigned.  Candidates will be required to pass a competency test, which includes a machinist skills demonstration and written test.  Testing may include assessing the candidate’s knowledge and skills in the following area’s; power tools, rigging, scaffolding, lubrication, mechanical seals, gaskets, metallurgy, tubing and fitting, pipe threading, torches, fasteners, presses, cutting tools, and hand tools.  This position works Monday – Thursday, 6:30 am to 5 pm.  Off hour overtime is required.  This is a position to permanently replace workers who are currently striking at the St Paul Park Refinery.

$42.96/hour - $46.04/hour

Skills Required

Required Qualifications

 

High school diploma or equivalent

Three years’ experience in the last five years as a manual machinist preferably in the petrochemical industry Machinist Certification Experience operating a manual lathe and Bridgeport Milling machine General computer skills Strong organizational skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent problem solving skills Strong leadership skills Mechanical and civil aptitude Good verbal communication skills Ability to lift 50 pounds and climb in excess of 75 feet, work in confined spaces, wear SCBAs and use hand tools and precision measuring devices

 

Desired Qualifications

Experience working in a refinery setting Rotating pump mechanic skills Experience with basic plate welding
