Our mission is to equip candidates with the knowledge and skills necessary to facilitate developmentally appropriate experiences for young children and families.

Conceptual Framework

ACTC’s IECE program is committed to supporting candidates personally and professionally as they pursue a career in early care and education. Candidates will experience high-quality academic and support services through classroom instruction and field experiences aligned to the NAEYC Professional Preparation Standards. Community partnerships will support candidates in a variety of ways to ensure their success in the field.

What are my career options?

This program offers a variety of choices for people seeking entry-level jobs as well as those who are currently employed in early childhood settings.

Employment opportunities are available in public and private preschools, early care educational settings, early intervention programs, Head Start, hospitals, campus child development centers, rehabilitation clinics, and recreation centers.

What Else Do I Need to Know?

Length of Program

The program can be completed in two years if you take 15 to 18 credit hours per semester. General education classes should be taken along with curriculum classes.

Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education: The Associate in Applied Science in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education at Ashland Community and Technical College is accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Early Childhood Higher Education Programs of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, The accreditation term runs from March 2018 through March 2025.
