Ashland Community & Technical College proudly hosted the graduation ceremony of the 2024-2025 GED students from Boyd County Adult Education on June 26.
“Today is more than just a ceremony,” said Annie Adams, instructor for Boyd County Adult Education. “It’s a celebration of courage, determination, and the power of second chances.”
She went on to say, “Adult education is not just about earning a diploma. It’s about reclaiming your future. It’s about breaking barriers, whether those are personal, societal, or educational, and proving that growth never has an expiration date. Learning is a lifelong journey, and today, you stand as powerful examples that it’s never to late to dream, to work hard, and to achieve.”
Mike Maynard, the Director of Hillcrest-Bruce Mission, was guest speaker at the ceremony.
He praised the graduates for their commitment to their futures and encouraged them to continue their journeys in whatever capacity they would like, whether entering the workforce or continuing their education.
“You chose to do this knowing how hard it would be and what you would have to sacrifice,” Maynard said. “And while the GED is valuable, the most valuable thing was the journey you went on to get it.”
