CELEBRATION OF PHILANTHROPY

This is one of our favorite events of the year. A time to give thanks back to our supporters for helping us continue serving students, providing scholarships, emergency funding. food pantry needs and just making this the best college experience ever for our students!

This year, the Visionary Philanthropist Award was presented to William & Mary West for their extraordinary generosity, humble service and unwavering belief in the  potential of others. Their legacy will empower generations of students at ACTC.

Our student speakers delivered mini but powerful comments about how the scholarship has helped them with their educational goals. We heard from Seymouria Mitchell, recipient of the Joseph & Sylvia Mansbach and ACTC Wine Jewels & More Scholarships. We also heard from Erin Howard, a Boyd County High School graduate receiving the Willie G. McCullough and Theodore C. & Bennie J. Shields Scholarships.

Alumni Corner

As we reflect on the progress of the past few months and look toward the future, I want to extend my deepest gratitude for the role you play in strengthening our alumni association at Ashland Community & Technical College. This fall marked a significant milestone for our Alumni Association. On October 18, we hosted an alumni conference that brought together graduates spanning multiple decades, career paths, and life journeys. The conversations, shared memories, and professional connections that emerged throughout the day were a powerful reminder of what happens when ACTC alumni gather with purpose. It reinforced something we’ve long believed: our alumni’s greatest strength is each other. That belief is at the heart of our plans moving forward. Over the next year, we will be  expanding networking and mentoring opportunities to foster stronger, more intentional relationships within our alumni community. From career-based meetups to  student–alumni mentorship connections, we aim to build a structure where graduates support one another and help guide the next generation of ACTC students.

To ensure these initiatives have a strong, sustainable foundation, we have also launched the new Alumni Association Fund. Every dollar contributed to this fund will be invested directly back into alumni programming—supporting events, mentorship activities, engagement opportunities, and the resources needed to help our network continue to grow. This fund represents our commitment to long-term alumni development and our belief that a vibrant alumni community strengthens the entire college.

Thank you for your continued partnership and for believing in the power of ACTC graduates. Your generosity allows us to dream bigger, reach farther, and build a future where our alumni remain connected, empowered, and engaged. I look forward to sharing more progress in the months ahead and to celebrating the many ways your support is transforming our work.

Reflections from the President

As we present the Ashland Community & Technical College Annual Report for the 2024–2025 academic year, I am honored to share the remarkable progress our  institution has made. This has been a year defined by growth, resilience, and a renewed commitment to serving our region with excellence.

At ACTC, our mission continues to be guided by three core pillars—our people, our partners, and our processes. These pillars shape every initiative we undertake and every decision we make.

First, we remain deeply committed to our people. Our students, faculty, and staff are the heart of this institution, and their achievements reflect the strength of our community. Through innovative programs, expanded support services, and meaningful opportunities for engagement, we continue to build an environment  where individuals can learn, evolve, and reach their fullest potential.

Second, our partnerships—both long-standing and newly formed—are essential to our success. By working closely with community organizations, industry leaders, local schools, and regional employers, we are creating educational pathways that respond to the evolving needs of our workforce and expand opportunities for the people we serve. These relationships not only strengthen ACTC but also uplift the broader region.

Finally, we are committed to continually improving our processes. Whether through adopting new technologies, streamlining operations, or enhancing student services, we strive to work smarter and more intentionally. This ensures that our efforts remain aligned with our mission and that we continue to deliver high-quality education in the most effective and innovative ways possible.

We look forward to the year ahead with optimism and purpose, knowing that through collaboration and shared commitment, we will continue to make a  meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.

With gratitude,
Dr. Larry Ferguson
