Student learning at ACTC goes beyond the classroom. So far this month, for example, we have offered a Science Fair for youth, a service learning project for Early College students and a planning seminar for ACTC students. We also had a health awareness event for college faculty and staff and a community Black History program for learners of all ages.
Many events at the college in December demonstrated different aspects of our mission. We met with high school counselors, held a recruitment event to bring in new students, recognized graduates, provided enrichment activities for youth, updated high school counselors on college services, recognized a retiring member of our Board of Directors and hired a new Development Director.
Our focus at ACTC extends to students at all educational levels. We are primarily concerned with providing the quality academic education and support services that our enrolled students need to succeed in college. We are also aware of our ability to help pre-college students understand the need for postsecondary education.
In addition to academic classes and services, ACTC provides activities that can help students connect to the college, network with fellow students and develop interpersonal and leadership skills. Even though we are a ΓÇÿcommuterΓÇÖ school, our goal is to provide a variety of opportunities for student involvement and development.
IΓÇÖm pleased to announce that Community College Week has listed Ashland Community and Technical College as a 2016 Top 100 Two-Year Institution in the number of one-year certificates awarded. This is the fourth consecutive year that we have been listed in that category.
