Looking back at semester of achievements
January 29, 2018
In this review of the fall 2017 semester, I am happy to report that our BuildSmart project to update the main building at the College Drive Campus is complete.
The heating and air conditioning unit was replaced, as well as the HVAC controls, and the IT infrastructure was upgraded, along with LED lighting.
These upgrades have not only made the campus more comfortable for our students, faculty and staff, but the building will be more energy efficient as a result of the upgrades. The building has served our students for nearly 50 years and we can now look forward to this multi-use building serving the needs of our students and community for decades to come.
Also in 2017, ACTC received the third installment of an $815,000 multi-year grant from Kentucky Power that is funding efforts to boost science, technology, engineering and math education in Lawrence County Schools. ACTC also received $75,000 in cash incentives from Kentucky Power after completing five energy-saving projects, including lighting and heating improvements, at all three campuses.
A Title III Strengthening Institutions Grant was put to good use with installation of three new workstations — two at the College Drive Campus and one at Technology Drive — as well as a faculty emporium on Technology Drive.
We also sponsored a variety of activities that demonstrate many facets of our mission to serve our students and community, and some of those events are included below. We achieved much last fall and look forward to a new year of accomplishments.
