ACTC hosts Entrepreneur Day
August 8, 2017
Ashland Community and Technical College, in partnership with the Kentucky Innovation
Network, hosted its third annual Entrepreneur Day for local high school students.
We started out with a few students the first year and last year, the effort grew.
This year, more than 90 students from East Carter, Greenup County, Fairview and Russell
high schools attended.
The goal of the program is to expose our young people to business leaders in our community
who have blazed their own trails in life, in hopes that these students will be future
entrepreneurs or business leaders themselves one day.
This year, students heard inspirational success stories from Robert Slagel, president,
CEO and owner of Portable Solutions Group, and Nathan Haney, senior vice president
for government relations for Braidy Industries. These accomplished professionals gave
a reminder that anyone can follow their dreams as long as they remain determined.
This is a message that we at ACTC truly believe in. Anyone can achieve their goal
if they have the will to succeed. And one of our goals is making sure the students
in our community understand the importance that higher education plays on that path
to success.
