ACTC extends remote instruction through end of semester
March 25, 2020
As Ashland Community and Technical College continues to monitor the situation with COVID-19, based on direction from state and national health experts, the college will continue to provide only online/remote classroom instruction through May 2.
Final exams, which take place May 4-10, will be delivered online or remotely.
Spring commencement ceremonies have also been postponed with a decision on new dates to come later this spring.
“We truly understand how difficult these restrictions are for our students and employees but keeping everyone healthy is of the upmost importance,” said Dr. Larry Ferguson, president and CEO of ACTC.
ACTC will provide lab/technical/clinical instruction as soon as the governor authorizes a return to a face-to-face learning environment. Allied health students will be placed in clinical sites as soon as the site allows students into the healthcare facility.
ACTC will provide an opportunity for students to complete labs/technical/clinical instruction as quickly as possible during the spring term. If facilities are not allowed to reopen within the term, or if students need additional access to lab facilities and to technical equipment after the term ends, ACTC will provide the instruction at no cost to the students.
All ACTC campuses will remain open only to essential college employees during this time. Employees who have moved to work-from-home options will continue to do so through April 17 or until the college reopens on a regular schedule.
Students are encouraged to check their KCTCS student email and Blackboard daily for course updates from instructors. Student services will continue to be offered virtually during this time period.
