ACTC to host theater festival
April 1, 2019
Ashland Community and Technical College and Greenup County High School are teaming
up to bring the Eastern Kentucky Dramatic Arts Society (EKDAS) to town. GCHS is the
host school and ACTC provides the venue for this one-day theatrical extravaganza on
Saturday, April 20. Eight different high school theater departments from all over
Eastern Kentucky will travel and perform one-act plays on the J.B. Sowards stage from
9 a.m.-5 p.m., an awesome opportunity for dozens of aspiring theater artists and their
teachers.
ACTC Associate Professor of Writing Jonathan Joy, who is helping to organize
the event, said the event is, "a great utilization of our space and a stellar example
of the kind of school and community partnerships that bring out the best in both."
The event is free and open to the public.
