ACTC Offers Programs for In-Demand Careers

Thinking about college in spring? Ashland Community and Technical College offers more than 120 choices for people seeking new careers or university transfer.

Health Care remains one of the fastest growing fields in the country. ACTC offers Associate Degree Nursing, Health Science Technology, Paramedic Technology, Pharmacy Technology, Practical Nursing, Respiratory Care-Advanced Level and Surgical Technology.

The new Medical Information Technology Program that started this fall prepares students for the new generation of medical office jobs that includes federally mandated coding procedures.

Technology programs prepare students for jobs paying an average of $15 to $30 an hour. ACTCs technical programs include Air Conditioning (HVAC), Applied Process Technologies, Automotive, Computer Aided Drafting and Design, Construction, Diesel, Electrical, Industrial Maintenance, Computerized Manufacturing and Machining, and Welding Technologies.

Business and public service programs give ACTC students popular choices in such career fields as Business Administration, Computer Information Technology, Cosmetology, Criminal Justice, Fire/Rescue Science Technology and Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education. Appalachian Studies, Agricultural Technician and Nursery Production are also offered.
