ACTC Is Now Accepting Spring Applications
Ashland Community and Technical College is accepting applications for Spring Semester 2014 and new student registration is underway. The application deadline is January 6, but completing the admission and registration process before the holidays is recommended. Many courses are filling up, and the sooner people apply, the sooner they can get their courses scheduled.
Application forms are available on the web at https://ashland.kctcs.edu/admissions/start-your-application/index.aspx and may be submitted online or by mail to the Admissions Office at the College Drive Campus or the Technology Drive Campus. Applicants will also need to submit an official copy of their high school transcript or GED, transcripts from other colleges or universities attended, and ACT score if available.
Part of the admission process is an orientation session that includes placement testing. Orientation sessions are scheduled after the applications are processed. After orientation, students will be assigned an academic advisor, and they make an appointment with the advisor to register for classes.
Financial Aid for Spring
While new students are working on the admission process, they can also apply for financial aid. People who want to start at ACTC this spring will find that college is more affordable than they might have thought.
ACTC in-state tuition for Spring Semester 2014 for new students is $144 per credit hour, a lower rate than at other colleges and universities in the area. In-state rates are available to neighboring Ohio and West Virginia residents.
Federal Pell Grants are available for students who qualify, and many ACTC students qualify. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the only form required for most federal and state aid programs. The FAFSA can be submitted electronically over the Internet through the web site at fafsa.ed.gov.
To apply for financial aid as a new student, individuals must have completed the admission process and be in degree, certificate or diploma status. Aid is awarded on the basis of financial need.
A tuition payment plan can be set up on line via KCTCS Student Self Service. If the payment plan is set up before January 12, there are three payments with 25% down and a $25 enrollment fee. After January 12, there are two payments with 50% down and a $25 enrollment fee. For details, contact Anna Tolliver, Administrative Assistant in Human Resources, at 606-326-2088.
Federal and state education benefit programs for veterans and eligible dependents are coordinated through ACTC Veterans Services Office.
