Get a head start with ACTC’s summer classes

Considering beekeeping to earn extra money? Then this two-evening class is for
you. Ashland Community and Technical College Workforce Solutions is offering an intro
to beekeeping class, in partnership with the Midwestern Beekeeper Program and Dr.
Moneen Jones. The classes will be from 6-8:30 p.m. on June 19 and 20 in room 510 at
ACTC’s Roberts Drive Campus.
The class will focus on the principles of beekeeping and participants will learn
about the history of beekeeping, honey bee biology, plant and pollinator relationships
and essential equipment and requirements for raising bees. By the end of this class,
participants will be ready to have their own colony and be able to help experienced
beekeepers with their hives. The class will be taught by Mike Crawford, president
of the Northeastern Kentucky Beekeeping Association.
The course fee is $75 and includes a student manual.
