Seniors recognized by NAACP, ACTC

The Boyd and Greenup Counties Branch of the NAACP and Ashland Community and Technical
College recognized 26 students at the 25th annual African American Senior Salute on
April 19.
Seniors from Ashland Paul Blazer, Boyd County, Fairview, Greenup County, Raceland
and Russell high schools were honored for their academic achievement as well as given
resources about continuing their education.
ACTC, Marshall University, Shawnee State University, Ohio University Southern
and Morehead State University participated in a college fair where students could
apply for admission or get general information about the schools.
Keynote speaker was Johnathon T. Davis, managing principal at JT Davis Asset Management
in Lexington. Davis is a 1991 graduate of the University of Kentucky and former Wildcat
basketball player.
Lunch was provided by Mary’s Kitchen.
Students who were honored were:
Ashland Paul Blazer High School: Demar Poindexter, Tyriq Duckwyler,
Sinclaire Dorsey, Khalfani Hassan Holloway, Marcus Daniels, Jayda Coleman, Adrianna
Johnson, Jalen Hamilton, Hattie Killin Gibson, Aroq Colburn, Kierstin Dillard, Lean
Smith Mensah, Mykasa Robinson, Jazamine Clemons and Nya Blake.
Boyd County High School: Jennifer Gonzalez and Donavan Whitehead.
Fairview: Cassandra Hunt, Maliah Jenkins, Joshua Neal and Taylor Castro.
Greenup County High School: Isaiah Greene.
Raceland High School: Tyus Ferguso, Damon Black, Octavious Hall and Quincy Jackson.
Russell High School: Madeline Allen, Giselle Barlow, Tyauna Mitchell, Jake Rodriguez
and Xavier Taylor.
