Two ACTC Students on KCTCS All Academic Team

Two ACTC students were honored at the annual Kentucky Community and Technical College Student Academic Achievement luncheon May 16 in Lexington.

Kenneth R. Cline and Cheryl A. Cook were among 32 students statewide named to the KCTCS 2011 All Academic Team. Both students graduated from ACTC in May with high honors.

Cline graduated with an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Applied Process Technologies, Chemical/Power Plant Operator Option. An Ashland resident, he graduated from Paul G. Blazer High School in 2005.

Cook graduated with an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education. A Catlettsburg resident and Boyd County High School graduate, she was Vice President of the Phi Theta Kappa honors society and received a 2010-11 PTK Distinguished Chapter Officer Award.

Selection to the All-Academic Team is based on a rigorous selection process that focuses on academic performance and campus involvement. Team members each received a $500 gift from their college and scholarship opportunities to continue their education from 15 Kentucky public and private universities. Together, the scholarships are valued at more than $500,000.

The 2011 KCTCS All-Academic Team Scholars are part of a national program sponsored by national honor society Phi Theta Kappa, USA Today and the American Association of Community Colleges.
