Truck Driving School Will Open at ACTC
Lake Cumberland CDL Training School, Inc. will hold an open house Tuesday, November 9, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the truck driver training facility located at the Ashland Community and Technical College Roberts Drive Campus.
The partnership with ACTC will bring truck driver training to the Ashland area. The company will offer truck driving classes to prepare students for the Class A CDL drivers test and entry-level positions in the trucking industry.
The first class will start November 15. Designed for individuals with little or no commercial driving experience, the class will meet Monday to Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., for four weeks. Students will receive 40 hours of classroom training and 120 hours of on-the-road training. Job placement assistance will also be available.
According to Lake Cumberland School officials, previous graduates are driving for some of the following companies: Werner, Trans AM, Red Star, TMC, Roehl, Boyd Brothers, Maverick, Swift, NDL, Con-Way, CR England, US Express and Schneider. First year drivers can earn between $35,000 and $40,000 per year.
