Theatre Auditions August 24-25 for "Arsenic and Old Lace"
ACTC Theatre will hold auditions for Arsenic and Old Lace Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 24 and 25, at 6:00 p.m. Auditions are in the J. B. Sowards Theatre at the College Drive Campus.
Auditions are open to area adults, high school students and college students. Those auditioning for the 13 male and female parts will read from the script, and no advance preparation is required.
Arsenic and Old Lace was written by American playwright Joseph Kesseling in 1939. It is a farcical black comedy revolving around the crazy Brewster family, descended from the "Mayflower," but now living in Brooklyn NY. The family includes two spinster aunts who poison lonely old men with a glass of home-made elderberry wine.
The director will be Jim Maggard, a teacher at Fairview High School. Rehearsals will be held weekday evenings and Saturdays. Performances are on Friday, Saturday and Sunday Oct. 2 to 4 and Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 8 to 10.
Anyone interested in working backstage to help with props, costumes, set construction, lights and sound is also invited to come to the auditions.
