Regional Job Club Announces Fall Meeting Topics

The new Regional Job Club will meet the first and third Thursdays of each month from 9:00 to 10:15 a.m. at the Boyd County Cooperative Extension Office in Catlettsburg.

The free club is open to anyone in the area who is currently out of work, underemployed or looking to make a career transition. Employers are invited to attend and talk about current or anticipated job openings.

Each meeting will cover a different aspect of the job search process. Topics this fall are: October 3: Resume, cover letter tips and job strategies; October 17: Networking tips; November 7: Money smart and managing unemployment benefits; November 21: Acting the interview with mock interviews; December 5: Getting LinkedIn and social media; and December 19: How to proactively manage your career.

Each meeting will include time for presentations by area business and for sharing and networking among attendees. Job seekers can attend as many meetings as they wish. No preregistration or membership is required, but participants are asked to be on time.

The club is sponsored by ACTC, Boyd County Cooperative Extension Service, the Kentucky Career Center in Ashland, and Southwest Community Action Council in Huntington.
