Prepare for Business Careers or Transfer

Business Administration is a popular program at ACTC because of the variety of options it offers.

It is the stepping stone to dozens of careers in accounting and finance, management and supervision, human resources and organizational development, real estate and small business ownership. Potential employers include every business and organization in the country.

In addition to basic management, marketing, accounting and finance principles, students gain a foundation in the interpersonal and organizational skills required by businesses today.

An Associate of Applied Science Degree combines fundamental business courses, general college education courses, and courses in one of four options: accounting, finance, management and real estate.

The Accounting Option leads to entry-level careers such as bookkeeper, accounting clerk, cost payroll clerk and any position using microcomputer-based systems.

The Finance Option prepares students for entry level positions in the financial services industry, government lending agencies and credit companies.

The Management Option gives students broad-based management knowledge and skills that can lead to a variety of management and supervisory positions.

The Real Estate Management Option leads to careers in sales, finance, development, management valuation, and market analysis.

Diplomas, which can be completed in less time than an associate degree, are offered in Organizational Leadership and Small Business Management.

Certificates that focus on a specific set of business skills are offered in Basic and Advanced Business Administration, Business Transfer, Finance, Financial Perspectives, General Business, Leadership, Pre-licensing Real Estate, Small Business Management and Supervisory Management.

Another option for associate degree graduates is transfer to a four-year institution for a bachelors degree in business administration. ACTC has 2+2 business transfer agreements with Marshall University, Morehead State University, Shawnee State University and Ohio Valley University near Parkersburg, WV. Graduates may also transfer their courses to other universities and colleges in the region.
