Paramedic Progam Application Deadline is July 15
The Emergency Medical Services Paramedic Program at ACTCprepares students to save lives. It is both a career pathway for those entering the health care for the first time and also a way for EMTs to go to the next level.
Jobs for paramedics are projected to grow at over three times the average rate for all occupations, according to the Kentucky Occupational Outlook to 2018.
July 15 is the deadline for admissions to the program for fall 2013. Paramedic training can be completed in one and a half to two years, and people must be an EMT before beginning the paramedic course. Applicants must also meet Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services application requirements
Students may earn either a certificate or Associate in Applied Science Degree. For both options, students take courses in anatomy amp; physiology, medical terminology, paramedic practice, clinical practical and management principles for healthcare.
The program meets state and national guidelines, and graduates are eligible to take the national Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMT-P) exam. Classes are held at ACTCs Roberts Drive Campus.
