Opening Reception for New Harmonies Exhibit

The public is invited to the Opening Reception for the New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music Exhibit on Thursday, Nov. 15, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at ACTCs Technology Drive Campus.

Provided by the Smithsonian Institution, the interactive exhibit features the sights and sounds of more than 200 years of American culture. The exhibit shows the evolution of American music from sacred songs and Old World folk music to gospel, country, blues, jazz, bluegrass, folk revival, rock and roll, soul and rap.

The exhibit will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. weekdays to December 19. The exhibit will be closed November 22 and 23.

The exhibit has been made possible in Ashland by the Kentucky Humanities Council, with support from the KY Transportation Cabinet and ACTC. Provided by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Services, the exhibit is part of Museum on Main Street, a collaboration between the Smithsonian Institute and State Humanities Councils that is supported by the United States Congress.

The Technology Drive Campus is located off the Industrial Parkway (SR 67) about two miles north of I64 exit 179 and about 12 miles south of US 23 in Greenup.
