Nurse Aid Course Starts July 19
A four-week State Registered Nurse Aide (SRNA) course at ACTC can help people start on a career in health care. The eighty-hour course covers basic skills needed in a variety of health care settings and prepares students for the state competency exam for nurse aides.
In Kentucky, an SRNA makes a median annual salary of $22,000, according to the Workforce Kentucky Occupational Explorer Occupational, with a 23% job growth rate projected from 2008 to 2018.
The SRNA can be a stepping stone to other health care positions, such as a registered nurse, licensed practical nurse or a health care administrator. For example, active status on the State Nurse Aide Registry or completion of a nursing assistant course is one of the admissions requirements for ACTCs associate degree and practical nursing programs.
The course will be held Tuesday to Friday, July 19 through August 12, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Technology Drive Campus located off the Industrial Parkway (KY 67). Clinicals will be held on Saturday and Sunday following the last week of class.
Those who complete the class earn three college credits. The cost is $390, plus $20 for liability insurance and $72.95 for the book. For more information or an application, contact Robin Harris, CWED Workforce Assessment Coordinator, 606-326-2252 or email: robin.harris@kctcs.edu.
