New ACTC Youth Camps Feature Robots Computers

Two new ACTC summer camps for youth ages seven to 14 will be held Monday through Friday, July 15 to 19.

In Lego Robotics from 9:00 a.m. to noon, students will learn how to make and program a robot to follow their commands. The hand-on class teaches programming, math, and science while helping students work in teams and develop valuable leadership skills.

Programming Computers with Scratch will introduce programming through the Scratch programming environment. Students will build short animations and games and will learn skills for building their own apps. The camp is from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Instructor John Bentley, II is the IT Networking Instructor for high school students at Collins Career Center in Ironton. He is a mentor for the Lego Barbarians, the first Lego League robotics team in Greenup County, and he does freelance work on web site development and infrastructure consulting.

The fee for each camp is $65, and enrollment is limited on a first come basis. Enroll through ACTC Community Education, 606-326-2072, 800-928-4256 ext. 2072 or email: as_ce@kctc.edu.
