KY Music Specialist Jim Claypool Will Speak Nov. 15
Dr. Jim Claypool will speak on Kentucky Music in Perfect Harmony Thursday, Nov. 15 at 6:00 p.m. at the Technology Drive Campus.
A researcher, author and songwriter, Claypool is a retired History Professor from Northern Kentucky University. He is the author or coauthor of several books, including Kentuckys Bluegrass Music (2009), and he has written numerous articles and book reviews. He is a book editor and manuscript reader/consultant for The University press of Kentucky.
He has hosted television programs for KET since the 1970s and has appeared on local state and national television and radio programs as host, commentator or analyst. He has written the lyrics for several bluegrass songs, including When Bill Came to Asheville.
Claypool is nationally recognized as an expert on Kentucky music, and his program will trace some of the influences that Kentuckians and their music have had on music worldwide. He is a featured speaker for the Kentucky Humanities Council and State Coordinator for the Smithsonian "New Harmonies:Celebrating American Roots Music Exhibit".
