KCTCS Recognizes ACTC Benefactors
Robert J. Maher from Ashland and W. Guy and Lisa Spriggs from Campobello, SC have been recognized by the Kentucky Community and Technical College System as outstanding benefactors of Ashland Community and Technical College.
They were among the 35 individuals, businesses and foundations honored at the 12th annual Presidents Gala and Benefactors Awards Dinner on November 19 for their generous support of KCTCS colleges.
Robert J. Maher began serving on ACTCs Foundation Board of Directors in 2002 and in 2003 was elected President of the Board. Under his leadership, the Fulfilling the Promise Campaign conducted from 2003 to 2007 raised more than $5.3 million in gifts, surpassing the goal of $3.2 million goal. Maher is a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones in Ashland.
The Spriggs family has supported ACTC for many years. Nearly 15 years ago, Guy Spriggs established a scholarship fund for the children of police officers and firefighters. In 2003 he agreed to serve as Campaign Co-Chair of the successful Fulfilling the Promise Campaign, and recently the Spriggs made a significant gift to support construction of the colleges new Child Development Center. A former Ashland resident, Spriggs is the founder of Eagle Distributing.
Both Maher and Spriggs received ACTC Distinguished Service Awards in 2008.
