Gospel Night Celebrates African-American Music
Gospel Night will be held Thursday, Feb. 20, at 7:00 p.m. at the Highlands Museum amp; Discovery Center in Ashland.
From humble beginnings as Negro spirituals, the sound and spirit of black gospel music has become a profound force in American music and culture. At Gospel Night, choirs and individual singers from African American churches throughout the Tri-State will sing the songs that have inspired generations of Americans.
Performers will include the Christ Temple Church Mass Choir from Ashland, the United Praise Choir from Young Chapel AME in Huntington and the Mass Choir from Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Ironton.
Also performing will be the Voices of Faith singers from First Baptist Church in Burlington, OH, Quinn Chapel Church and New Jerusalem Church in Ironton and Christs Temple Church in Ashland. The Reverend Edward Holmen and Reverend Richard Carter from Ironton and the S.A.W. Ministries from Ironton will also sing.
