Golf Scramble Raises $20,000 for Scholarships

The Ashland Community and Technical College Golf Scramble on October 10 raised approximately $20,000 for the scholarship fund administered by Community and Technical College Foundation of Ashland, Inc.

This was our best scramble so far in terms of participation, said Dr. Bruce Shaffer, event coordinator. The weather was perfect, the players enjoyed themselves, and the money we raised will help many students with college expenses.

Corporate sponsors were AEP Kentucky Power, Clarks Pump-N-Shop and a Memorial for Donald Putnam. There were 43 hole sponsors and 17 teams for the event held at the Bellefonte Country Club.

The winning teams were First - McKenzie, Woolery amp; Webb, PSC, Second - Clarks Pump-N-Shop and Third - Town Square Bank.Individual awards went to Beverly Shaffer and Shawn Armstrong for Longest Drive and Jeff Lyons for Closest to the Pin.

This was our fourth annual golf event, and we are fortunate to receive tremendous support from the community, said Dr. Kay Adkins, ACTC President and CEO. Our committee members, sponsors and supporters are committed to improving the lives of our students.
