Free GED Testing Ends June 30

Free GED tests are available to Kentuckians on a first-come, first-served basis through June 30. The tests give adults who did not finish high school the chance to certify their attainment of high school-level academic knowledge and skills.

GED pretesting is offered at the ACTCs Adult Education Center at the Roberts Drive Campus. The Center also offers free classes to help people prepare for the GED test.

A five-week series of classes will begin the week of May 28 and run through the end of June. The classes meet two to three days a week, and each class lasts an hour and a half each day. Online/distance learning classes are also available.

Classes include five different levels of math, four levels of reading comprehension, two levels of language enrichment / writing and a study tips class. Lab sessions and online/distance learning study are also offered. People can take the classes to get ready for college level work or sharpen their skills for the workplace as well as prepare for the GED.

Before starting classes, students will get a free assessment of their skills and goals so that they can be placed in the correct class levels. To make an assessment appointment, call the Center at 606-326-2457 or 606-326-2437.
