Faculty Staff Present at New Horizons Conference

The annual KCTCS New Horizons Conference held in May was a professional and personal development opportunity for employees throughout the system.

The Conference, Transforming KCTCS, offered an opportunity for participants to share innovative ideas, techniques, and technologies based on best and promising practices; to engage with others across college, disciplinary, and role boundaries; and to shape the future of KCTCS.

Conference sessions focused on seven areas of transformation: transfer, developmental education, dual credit, curriculum review, student services, financial aid, career development, and job placement.

Several ACTC faculty and staff participated as session presenters.

Dr. Greg Adkins and other college presidents participated in a panel discussion on Leaderships View to Transform KCTCS Service.

A session on Career Development from Grade 7 through Postsecondary: Math and Welding Integration was presented by Curtis Bowman, Associate Professor of Welding Technology, Sarah Diamond Burroway, Director of Grants and Contracts; Dr. Janie Kitchen, Dean of Academic Affairs; and Mark Riggs, Assistant Professor of Mathematics.

A session on Real Partnerships: Integrating Dual Enrollment and Dual Credit into the High School Culture was presented by Allison Goble, Recruitment Specialist; Cara Huff, Recruiting and Outreach Coordinator; and John McGlone, Dean of Marketing and Community Relations.
