ACTC recognizes employee alumni

Ashland Community and Technical College continues its 80th anniversary celebration by recognizing its current employees who graduated from ACTC and its predecessors.

Jennifer L. Allen, of Russell, enrolled at ACTC in 2002 and earned an associate degree in applied science/business management. She reenrolled in 2009 and received an associate in science degree. She also earned a bachelor’s degree in general business from Morehead State University. She began working at the college in 2010 as a financial aid specialist.

Joseph D. Allen, of Greenup, enrolled at ACC in 1997 and graduated from the Associate Degree Nursing program. He went on to receive bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing. He began at ACTC in 2014 and is a nursing instructor.

Kellie L. Allen, of Ashland, enrolled at ACC in 1987 and received an Associate in Arts degree. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Ohio University. She started working at the college in 1998 as an employment specialist. She is now the director of human resources.

Danny G. Bailey, of Ashland, enrolled at ACC in 1964 and graduated with an Associate in Science degree. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in agriculture and a master’s degree in agriculture education from the University of Kentucky. He also earned master’s degrees in guidance and counseling and higher education from Morehead State University and did additional graduate work at The Ohio State University. He was also an honor graduate of the United States Army Command and General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He began working at ACC in 1973 as a coordinator of disadvantaged and handicapped and is now a counselor and professor. 

Kathy L. Blair, of Ashland, enrolled at ACC in 1990 and received an associate degree in nursing. She went on to earn a BSN from South University and MSN/Ed from University of Phoenix. She began working at ACTC in 2011 as a member of the faculty and is now an assistant professor in the nursing department.

Keith G. Brammell, of Grayson, enrolled at ACC in 1978 and received an Associate in Science. He also received a DMD from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry. He started working at the college in 1999 as a department chair for health and personal services. He is now interim dean of technical education and workforce, CAO.

Amanda L. Cordle, of Grayson, enrolled at ACC in 1997 and received an associate in applied science degree in office systems. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in university studies from Morehead State University. She started working at ACTC in 2010 as an office assistant and is now an academic advisor.

Larry A. Ferguson, of Versailles, enrolled at ACC in 1986 and received an Associate in Arts degree. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership and a master’s in strategic leadership from Mountain State University, as well as a doctorate of philosophy and educational leadership from Trident University. He started working at ACTC in 2007 as the director of community, workforce and economic development. He is now the vice president of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System.

Woodrow A Fosson, of Ashland, received a certificate for applied process technology and an associate degree from ACTC. He began working at the college in 2011 as the APT instructor and is now an associate professor.

Rose M. French, of Ashland, enrolled at ACC in 1993 and received an Associate in Applied Science degree in office systems technology. She also received a bachelor’s degree from Morehead State University. She started working at ACTC in 2000 as a student affairs assistant.

Robin M. Harris, of Ashland, enrolled at ACC in 1990 and received an Associate in Arts degree and an Associate in Applied Science degree in business technology/management. She also received her bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Louisville and is working toward her master’s degree in organizational communication from Murray State University. She started working at ACTC in 2000 as office support. She is now the manager of testing and coordinator of short-term health programs. 

Rachel M. Henderson, of Rush, enrolled at ACC in 1995 and received an associate degree in nursing. She went on to earn her bachelor’s and master’s degree in nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing. She started working at ACTC in 2011 as a nursing instructor. She is now an associate professor.

Deena L. Howerton, of Greenup, enrolled at ACC in 1987 and graduated from the Associate Degree Nursing program. She went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Bellarmine University. She began working at ACTC in 2012 as a practical nursing instructor. She is now an assistant professor in practical nursing.

Cristina C. McDavid, of Boyd County, enrolled at ACC in 1983 and received an AAS in business. She also received a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in business education from Morehead State University. She began working at the college in 1999 as program coordinator of office systems and is now associate dean of academic affairs.

Ronald J. McDavid, of Catlettsburg, enrolled at Ashland Vocational School in 1983. He graduated with a diploma in tool and die. From there he attended Morehead State University and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in industrial education and technology and a master’s degree in career and technical education. He began working at ACTC in 2003 as director of the entrepreneur center. Now he is the assistant director of Student Support Services.

John K. McGlone, of Ashland, enrolled at ACC in 1985 and received an AAS in business technology/management. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in education and computer science and a master’s degree in education administration from Morehead State University. He started working at the college in 1990 as an academic related instructor in computer science. He is now the dean of public services.

Pamela K. Miller, of Ashland, enrolled at ACTC in 2006 and received an AAS in medical coding. She started working at the college in 2008 as a data coordinator and is now an administrative assistant.

Regina L. Miller, of Ashland, enrolled at ACC in 1989 and received AAS in business management. She went on to earn a bachelor's degree in business management and a master's degree in counseling and administration from Morehead State University. She began working at the college in 1991 as part-time staff assisting faculty in computer labs and a fill-time library specialist. She is now supervisor of the Ready to Work program. 

Kimberly L. Minnehan, of Flatwoods, enrolled at ACC in 1990 and received an AAS in office systems. She also received a business degree and master’s degree in adult and higher education/counseling from Morehead State University. She began working at the college in 1997 as staff support. She is now the manager of advancement.

Lindsay Moore, of Catlettsburg, enrolled in 1989 and again in 2011, earning an associate degree in nursing. He is currently a student in the AND to MSN Bridge program at Indiana Wesleyan University. He began working as an adjunct instructor at ACTC in 2017.

Roxanne M. Neal, of Ironton, enrolled at ACTC in 2003. She received an associate in applied science degree, certificates in medical admissions clerk, receptionist, integrated office skills, administrative office technology and data entry operator, as well as diplomas in office systems technology and office assistant. She went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in technical and applied studies from Ohio University Southern. She started working at the college in 2005 as an office assistant in adult education. She is now the department assistant for the health sciences division.

Ella K. Smith, of Naples, Kentucky, enrolled at Ashland State Vocational Technical School in 1977 and ACC in 1981. She received secretarial/stenographic credentials and an associate in science degree. She began working at ACC in 1982 as an admissions clerk. In 2009 she began working at ACTC as an administrative assistant.

Lydia G. Osborne, of Ashland, enrolled at ACTC in 1997 and received an associate degree in nursing. She went on to earn her master’s degree in nursing education from Walden University. She started working at ACTC in 2016 and is a nursing instructor.

Cindy D. Runyon, of Ashland, enrolled at ACC in 1988 and graduated with an Associate in Arts degree. She went on to earn bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Morehead State University. She started working at the college in 2000 as a financial aid assistant. She is now an administrative assistant.

Mourine K. Smith, of Morehead, enrolled at ACTC in 2012 and received a cosmetology instructor certificate. She also received her diploma in cosmetology and Associate in Applied Science degree from Somerset Community and Technical College. She began working at ACTC in 2015 as a cosmetology instructor. She is now also the cosmetology coordinator.

Samantha J. Sorrell, of Ashland, enrolled at ACTC in 2005 and received an Associate in Arts degree. She went on to earn a BA in human services and counseling and a M.Ed. in counseling and human development from Lindsey Wilson College. She started working at ACTC in 2017 an e-learning support specialist.

Chrisha M. Spears, of Ashland, enrolled at ACTC in 2001 and received an Associate in Applied Science with a focus in business administration. She also earned a bachelor’s degree in university studies and a master’s degree in adult and higher education from Morehead State University. She started working at ACTC in 2010 as a data analyst. She is now Workforce Solutions Specialist and Accelerating Opportunity Coordinator.

Michael B. Tackett, of Catlettsburg, enrolled at Ashland Community College in 1985. He graduated with an associate degree in applied science. He also received a degree in industrial electricity from Ashland Technical College. He began working at ACTC in the fall of 2015 and is the electrical instructor.

Susan Y. Wallace-Vernatter, of South Point, enrolled at ACC in 1985 and received an associate degree in nursing. She also received a bachelor’s degree in healthcare management from Bellevue University. She began working at ACTC in 2010 as adjunct faculty for Practical Nursing program. She is now assistant professor and clinical/lab coordinator for the program.
