Getting ready to take your first driving test?

Published on Jul 22, 2017

Do you need some practice on the road before taking your first drivers’ test? Or do you already have a license, but want to hone your driving skills?

Ashland Community and Technical College is offering a driving instruction course that will help both teens and adults prepare for the road.

Taught by Boyd County Sheriff’s Deputy Rick Riffe, students will learn good driving skills through the use of up-to-date information and on-the-road driving practice. Completion of the program may also help reduce auto insurance rates. While the driving portion of the class will cover Boyd County’s driving course in Catlettsburg, residents of other counties are welcome to register.

Participants must have a valid driver’s permit or license and must be prepared to attend all class sessions as scheduled. Sessions are scheduled on weekday evenings or Saturdays on a first-come basis. Cost for the course is $225 and seats are limited.

Courses take place from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at the Roberts Drive Campus on the following dates: Aug. 7-8 and Sept. 5-6. For more information, to register or to be added to the waitlist, contact Workforce Solutions at 606-326-2072 or by email at as_workforce@kctcs.edu.
