Diversity Forum Features Dr. Roger Cleveland

Dr. Roger Cleveland will be the presenter at a Diversity Forum and Program Friday,
Feb. 10, at the Ashland Community and Technical College Technology Drive Campus.
Dr. Cleveland is nationally known for his work in diversity, instructional equity,
cultural competency, closing achievement gaps, learning styles, transforming school
culture and school improvement planning.
He is associate professor of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at Eastern
Kentucky University (EKU). He has conducted staff development and workshops for schools
and school districts, state educational agencies and universities, and social service
agencies.
At EKU, He has been actively involved with EKU's Call Me MISTER Program, which encourages
African American males to become role models in the field of education. He was inducted
into the Kentucky Civil Rights Hall of Fame in 2015
Dr. Cleveland's presentation will be followed by a diversity and inclusion forum that
encourages area residents to share their experiences, insight and expertise on equity
and inclusion issues.
Through dialogue, participants are encouraged to become more aware of their own cultural
perceptions and how those perceptions influence policies, practices and personnel.
"The goal is to achieve a community that is culturally competent and inclusive in
providing a better environment for all stakeholders," said Al Baker, ACTC Director
of Cultural Diversity and event coordinator.
The diversity forum and presentation is a community Black History Month program supported
by ACTC, the Highlands Museum & Discovery Center and area residents. For more information,
