Defensive Driving Workshop | ACTC

Defensive Driving Workshop

This classroom-only driver improvement program covers strategies that can reduce collision-related injuries, fatalities and costs.

Instructor Willis Johnson from the National Safety Council will stress the importance of attitude in preventing accidents and reinforce the good driving skills most of us already have. Topics include rules, regulations and responsibilities behind the wheel, driving conditions, unsafe driving behaviors, and aggressive driving versus road rage.

The workshop will be held Tuesday, Aug. 30, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Building 2 at the ACTC Roberts Drive Campus, 4818 Roberts Dr. in Ashland.

This workshop is open to the public and is recommended for everyone, especially teenagers and those over 55. Businesses whose employees drive or operate commercial or personal vehicles during company time may want to send their drivers.

Participants will receive a Certificate of Completion which may make them eligible for discounted auto insurance premiums. People should contact their insurance agent to determine eligibility for safe-driver discounts.

ACTC Workforce Development and Morehead State Universitys Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in Ashland are cosponsoring the course. Registration is through the SBDC, 606-326-8011. The fee is $20 per person, and checks should be made payable to the National Safety Council.
