Daytime Class for State Registered Nurse Aid

ACTC offers a daytime State Registered Nurse Aid (SRNA) class for people want to prepare for a health care career but who have family or work responsibilities in the evening.

The class meets Tuesday and Thursday, Nov. 8 to Dec. 15, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Clinicals are held on Saturday and Sunday following the last week of class

The eighty-hour course prepares students for the state competency exam for nurse aides. In Kentucky, 90% of the SRNAs earn an average of $14.19 per hour and $29,500 a year, according to the Workforce Kentucky Occupational Explorer.

The SRNA can be a stepping stone to other health care positions, such as a registered nurse, licensed practical nurse or a health care administrator. One of the admissions requirements for ACTCs associate degree and practical nursing programs is active status on the State Nurse Aid Registry or completion of a nursing assistant course.

Those who complete the class earn three college credits. The cost is $405, plus $20 for liability insurance and $72.95 for the book.

Evening courses are also offered in November on Monday through Thursday, Nov. 7 to Dec. 1, or on Tuesday through Friday, Nov. 8 to Dec. 2. Courses are held at ACTCs Technology Drive Campus located off the Industrial Parkway (KY 67).
