College Transfer Fair is March 26

An online Transfer Madness Fair on Thursday, March 26, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. can help Ashland Community and Technical College students and future students - chart their path to a bachelors degree.

Transfer Madness is a statewide transfer fair where students can connect with Kentucky colleges and universities to chat with transfer advisors, search for scholarships, download e-brochures and videos, and get their questions answered by advisors at their chosen transfer institution..

The Fair is open tohigh school students planning to attend ACTC or other KCTCS college on route to a four-yeardegree. Non-KCTCS students can go online to check out their options to transfer to another college.

Twenty-two Kentucky four-year colleges and universities and all 16 KCTCS colleges are participating in the Fair. Students can ask representatives about courses and programs, tuition and financial aid, housing and activities, application and registration procedures, campus visits and the next steps to take.

Many ACTC students have a bachelors or higher degree as their ultimate goal, said Cristina McDavid, ACTC Associate Dean of Advising and Retention. Transfer Madness is a good way for them to connect to institutions that offer programs in their field.

The Fair is one of many ways that ACTC offers help to transfer students, McDavid said. We host visits by university representatives throughout the year who can talk with students about transfer options, and each spring we provide transportation for students who want to visit area universities.

Face-to-face opportunities with university representatives, along with the counseling information on transfer requirements, can help students feel more confident about their ultimate choice, she said.

Transfer Madness is sponsored by the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education and theKentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) to promote awareness about the seamless transition from high school to community and technical colleges to four-year Kentucky institutions
