March 2 is the application deadline for spring bi-term classes at Ashland Community and Technical College. Bi-term classes are eight-weeks long, half the length of traditional semester classes but with the same content as semester-long classes
Bi-term classes offer new students the chance to start classes this spring and current students the chance to add classes to their schedule. Students can take up to seven credit hours of classes in general education subjects required for associate degrees and diplomas, as well as specialized courses in technical programs.
Many of the classes are offered online. Humanities and social science courses for associate degrees and many diploma programs are History of the US Through 1865, General Psychology, Intro to Art, Intro to the Humanities, Modern Social Problems and World Politics. Communications courses are Intro to Interpersonal Communications and Writing II. Math courses are Pre-Algebra, Basic Algebra and Intermediate Algebra
Also online are computer classes in Connecting Networks and MS Server Administration, accounting courses in Financial Accounting and Managerial Accounting and a Computer Aided Drafting and Design course in Introduction to Architecture.
On campus courses are offered in Basic Algebra, Foundations of College Writing II, Health Care Basic Skills II, Reading for College Classroom and Writing II.
Also on campus are Computer Aided Drafting and Design classes in Engineering Graphics, Intro to Architecture, Descriptive Geometry and Intermediate Computer Aided Drafting and Electrical Technology courses in Rotating Machinery and Lab, Electrical Motor Controls II and Lab, and Circuits II.
Bi-term classes start March 16 and end May 10. New students must complete the application process, including orientation and placement testing, by March 2. New students enrolling only in the bi-term session may be eligible for financial aid. To apply for financial aid, complete the 2014-15 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.gov. For more information, call 855-246-2282.
Currently enrolled students are not eligible to receive additional financial aid for bi-term classes added to their schedules, and visiting students are not eligible to receive financial aid through ACTC. Also, the Tuition Payment Plan is not available for bi-term classes.
