Apply Now for LPN to RN Advanced Standing Class

Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Licensed Vocational nurses (LVNs) who want to become registered nurses can apply now for ACTCs Spring 2011 Advanced Standing course.

With the accelerated Advanced Standing course, LPNs and LVNs can earn two semesters of credit in ACTCs Associate Degree Nursing Program.

Designed for LPN/LVNs who demonstrate the ability to build upon previous learning and experience, the course focuses on developing skills necessary for a transition to the RN role. Students cover topics such as critical thinking in the care of clients with dysfunctional health perception-health management, value-belief, rest-sleep, activity-exercise and nutritional-metabolic health patterns.

October 1 is the application deadline. Admission to the course is selective, based on ACT or NLN Pre-RN exam scores, completion of prerequisite courses and other admissions measures. Applicants must have a valid unrestricted LPN or LVN license and have worked one year full-time within the past three years or graduated from LPN/LVN school with three years.

Applicants must submit both ACTC and Advanced Standing applications plus official transcripts for high school/GED and post-secondary institutions attended. Applications are online at ashland.kctcs.edu and are also available in the Admissions Offices at College and Technology Drive Campuses. Application to the Advanced Standing course does not guarantee admission to the course.
