Apply Now for Associate Degree Nursing Program

February 1 is the application deadline for the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) class that begins in Fall Semester, 2013.

This program prepares graduates to care for clients as registered nurses in beginning staff-level positions, said Professor Michael Napier, RN, MSN, Associate Degree Nursing Program Coordinator.. Graduates are eligible to write the National Council Licensure Examination to become registered nurses.

The program is approved by the Kentucky Board of Nursing and accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, Inc. 3343 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 500, Atlanta GA 30326, telephone 404-975-5000.

The curriculum combines general education and nursing education, with classroom instruction closely correlated to clinical experiences in various health care facilities in the community. Employment is found in hospitals, nursing homes, extended care facilities, physician's offices, clinics, and public health agencies.

Enrollment in the program is through a selective admission process. Applicants must have completed BIO137, PSY110, CS100, and MAT150 or MAT110 prior to the start of the nursing program.

Students admitted to the program must complete CPR requirements and a nursing assistant course or equivalent before enrolling in the first nursing course. General education courses may be taken prior to admission.

Nursing applications are available online at ashland.kctcs.edu under Academics, Programs of Study, Associate Degree Nursing. Applications can be turned in at the Admissions Office at the College Drive Campus and the Student Services Offices at the Technology Drive Campus.
