Apply for Pharmacy Program by July 15

July 15 is the deadline to apply for admission to the ACTC Pharmacy Technology program for fall 2013.

Pharmacy Technology offers a quick path into health care employment. Pharmacy Technicians are employed in community and hospital pharmacies, and those jobs are expected to grow 33% from 2010 to 2020 according to KY Occupational Outlook.

At ACTC, Pharmacy Technology is a one-year diploma program, and a Community Pharmacy Assistant Certificate is also available.

The program includes classes in anatomy, physiology and microbiology, and students learn basic pharmacy standards, dosage calculations, drug classifications and IV admixture skills.

Its great that theres a Pharmacy Technology program close to home, said William Justin May, a December 2012 graduate working as a pharmacy Technician at CVS. I would recommend the program to anyone considering a pharmacy field. Between the lab classes and externship, you learn the skills and knowledge you need to go right to work.

Classes are held at the College Drive Campus.

Pharmacy Technology is a selective admissions program. New students will need to submit both an ACTC application and an application for their chosen program. Applications which are available on line at: ashland.kctcs.edu. For more information, call the ACTC Health Science Office at 606-326-2086.
