Apply for LPN-RN Transitions Course by October 1
Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) who want to become registered nurses can apply now for the Spring 2017 LPN to RNTransitions courseat ACTC.
With the Advanced Standing transitions program, LPNs and LVNs can earn two semesters of credit in ACTCs Associate Degree Nursing Program.
Students admitted to the course earn one semester of credit for their LPN/LVN license (Nursing 101). Those who complete the Advanced Standing course (Nursing 197) will have earned a total of 15 credit hours in nursing.
Designed for LPN/LVNs who demonstrate the ability to build upon previous learning and experience, the course focuses on developing skills necessary for transition to the RN role. Students cover topics such as the care of clients with dysfunctional health perception, value-belief, rest-sleep, activity-exercise and nutritional-metabolic health patterns.
October 1 is the application deadline. Admission is selective, based on ACT or NLN Pre-RN exam scores, completion of prerequisite courses and other measures. Applicants must have a valid unrestricted LPN or LVN license and have worked one year full-time within the past three years or graduated from LPN/LVN school within three years.
Applicants must submit both ACTC and the LPN- RN Transition applications which are online at ashland.kctcs.edu. Application to the program does not guarantee admission.
ACTCs Associate Degree Nursing Program is granted Full Approval by the Kentucky Board of Nursing and Continuing Accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc.
