Apply for LPN-RN Transitions by October 1
Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Licensed Vocational Nurses who want to become registered nurses can apply for the LPN to ADN Transitions pathway that begins January 2014 at ACTC.
Admitted students who successfully complete the Advanced Standing Nursing 197 course, Nursing 211 and Nursing 215 concurrently will earn a total of 15 credit hours in nursing by the end of Spring semester. They will then continue on through the second year of the Associate Degree Nursing Program.
The focus is on developing skills necessary for a transition to the RN role. Students cover topics such as critical thinking in the care of clients with dysfunctional health perception, health management, value-belief, rest-sleep, activity-exercise and nutritional-metabolic health patterns.
Admission is selective, based on ACT or NLN Pre-RN exam scores, completion of prerequisite courses and other admissions measures. Applicants must have a valid unrestricted LPN or LVN license and have worked one year full-time within the past three years or graduated from LPN/LVN school within three years.
October 1 is the application deadline. Applicants must submit both ACTC and Advanced Standing applications plus official transcripts from high school/GED and post-secondary institutions attended.
Applications are available online at ashland.kctcs.edu and in the Admissions Offices at the College Drive and Technology Drive Campuses. To request applications, call ACTC Admissions, 606.326.2000 or 800-928-4256. Application to the program does not guarantee admission.
