Apply by Oct. 1 for Surgical LPN-ADN Programs

October 1 is the application deadline for two health care programs that begin January 2012 at Ashland Community and Technical College: the Surgical Technology Program and the Licensed Practical Nursing to Associate Degree Nursing (LPN to ADN) Program.

The Surgical Technology Program prepares students for the national certification exam and employment in the operating room, private or public hospitals and clinics. The three-semester diploma program includes basic sciences, surgical decorum and protocol, and technical skills for assisting surgeons in the operating room. For more information, contact Professor Jacqueline Cavins, 606-326-2006 or email: jacqueline.cavins@kctcs.edu.

The LPN to ADN Program allows Licensed Practical Nurses and Licensed Vocational Nurses to earn two semesters of credit in ACTCs Associate Degree Nursing Program. The program focuses on developing skills necessary for a transition to the RN role. For more information, contact Health Science Division Chair Jennifer Carroll, 606-326-2018 or email: Jennifer.carroll@kctcs.edu

Both programs are selective admission programs, and prospective students need to complete an application for their chosen program. Applicants who are not current ACTC students also need to complete the ACTC application process.

Applications are available online at ashland.kctcs.edu and in the Admissions Office at the College Drive and Technology Drive Campuses. To request applications, call ACTC Admissions, 606-326-2000 or 800-928-4256 or the program coordinator. Application to a program does not guarantee admission to that program.
