ACTC/FIVCO Science Fair is February 21

The public is invited to the second annual ACTC/FIVCO Area Science amp; Engineering Fair February 21 at the Technology Drive Campus. of Ashland Community and Technical College.

Approximately 200 students will participate in the Fair. The 113 individual and group entries, up from about 96 entries last year, represent 26 schools, seven districtsand one home school.

Participating schools from Ashland are Charles Russell, Crabbe, Hager, Oakview and Poage Elementaries, Paul G. Blazer High School and Holy Family School. Schools from Boyd County are Cannonsburg, Ponderosa and Summit Elementaries.

Schools from Carter County are Heritage, Olive Hill and Tygart Creek Elementaries, East Carter and West Carter Middle Schools, and West Carter High School. Schools from Lawrence County are Blaine, Fallsburg and Louisa East Elementaries, Louisa Middle School and Lawrence County High School. Elliott County High School is also participating.

Projects will be judged in the morning, and the awards ceremony will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. The Technology Drive Campus is located just off KY 67 (Industrial Parkway), accessible from I-64 exit 179 or from US 23 one mile south of Greenup.

ACTC is coordinating this fair to promote and recognize student achievements in science and engineering, with support through a grant from Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc. Fair winners will be eligible for participation in a state regional science fair.
