ACTC Workshop Seeks to Increase Supplier Diversity

Ashland Community and Technical College is hosting a Supplier Diversity Workshop June 27 designed to increase the diversity of businesses that provide goods and services to the college.

The free workshop is for area businesses interested in becoming part of the diversity initiative. It will be held from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. in the Rocky Adkins Pavilion at Technology Drive Campus in EastPark. The agenda includes an overview of how the Initiative works, a demonstration of the online registration process and an open question and answer session, with purchasing agents available for more information.

The workshop is part of the Kentucky Community and Technical College Systems (KCTCS) Supplier Diversity Initiative. The Initiatives purpose is to ensure that KCTCS and ACTC meet the 2010-2016 Strategic Plan goal to reflect the diversity of the students and employees of our colleges and the citizens of Kentucky.

Diverse suppliers include businesses owned by ethnic minorities, women, veterans or individuals with disabilities. These diverse businesses are invited to register with the Initiative so that they can be notified when a matching opportunity occurs with ACTC or any of KCTCSs 16 colleges.

Once approved, suppliers are eligible to receive invitations to participate in opportunities to provide goods/ services through a competitive RFP/RFQ process. There is no cost associated for suppliers to register or participate in identified opportunities.

Registered businesses will also receive newsletters and other communications to keep informed on future opportunities to do business with ACTC and the other fifteen community and technical colleges located throughout Kentucky.

To RSVP or receive more information, contact Al Baker, ACTC Director of Cultural Diversity, (606)326-2422. Interested suppliers may also visit the KCTCS System Office website to learn more about the Initiative and to register their companies.
