ACTC Theatre Presents "Once Upon a Mattress"

Ashland Community and Technical College will present the Childrens Theatre production of G2K Once Upon a Mattress February 18 to 20.

This musical version of The Princess and the Pea was adapted by the Rogers and Hammerstein Theatre library for younger actors and audiences, with lyrics and content appropriate for youth.

The cast of 38 third to ninth grade students includes Sydnie Carpenter from Dawson-Bryant High School as Princess Winnifred; Clifton Ross from Russell High School as Prince Dauntless; Emma Imes from Russell Middle School as Queen Aggravain; Andrew Hall from Boyd County High School as The Silent King; Emma Davis from a Paul G. Blazer as Lady Larken; and Alex Castle from Rose Hill Christian School as Sir Harry.

Once Upon a Mattress is based on the book by Jay Thompson, Deal Fuller, and Marshall Barer, with music by Mary Rogers and lyrics by Marshall Barer. Karen J. Curnutte, ACTC musical theatre director, is the director and Max Jackson, ACTC Professor Emeritus of Music, is the musical accompanist.

By turns comedic and romantic, this beguiling tale of royal courtship and comeuppance offers an entertaining live theatre experience for youth and adults alike.
