ACTC Theatre Presents "A Christmas Carol"
Ashland Community and Technical College Theatre will present A Christmas Carol: Scrooge and Marley on December 4, 5 and 6 at 8:00 p.m. and December 7 at 2:30 p.m. Performances are in the J. B. Sowards Theatre on the College Drive Campus.
This is ACTC Theatres 21st presentation of the heartwarming tale of Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, and Tiny Tim.The classic novel by Charles Dickens, adapted to the stage by Israel Horowitz, has become a holiday favorite for all ages.
Tyler Bradley, a retired paramedic from Flatwoods, portrays Scrooge, Matt Johnson, a nursing home employee from Portsmouth, OH, portrays Jacob Marley, and Roger Workman, a restaurant employee from Ironton, OH is Bob Crachit.
ACTC students Ciara James from Ashland, Sharon Thompson from Raceland and Ethan Darby from Ashland are Martha Cratchit, Ghost of Christmas Future and Young Scrooge respectively.Benjamin Katterheinrich, an Oakview Elementary student from Ashland is Tiny Tim, and his mother Alicia Katterheinrich is the Ghost of Christmas Present.
Other Ashland residents include Tish Maynard as Mrs. Cratchit and Kim Taylor as Mrs. Dibbler. Ashland school students in the cast include Alex Castle from Fairview High School as Nephew Fred, Logan Darby from Ashland Middle School as Peter Cratchit, Holly Plummer from Charles Russell Elementary as Fan, and Wyatt Toller from Poage Elementary as Little Boy Scrooge. Boyd County High School cast members include Gabriel Thompson as Ghost of Christmas Present, Henry Yoakem as Belle, and Christopher Rice as Old Joe.
Others in the cast are Ironton resident Molly Sergent as Freds Wife, Rock Hill High School student Kathryn Burge as Belinda Crachit, and about 30 more tri-state area adults and students as Towns People.
The Director is Mary Caroline Baughman, a Portsmouth, OH resident and Adjunct Theater Instructor at Shawnee State University (SSU). She has directed several theater productions at SSU, including Barefoot in the Park and Eugene ONeills Beyond the Horizon. Her background includes experience in vocal and acting coaching, conducting theatre workshops, providing playwriting guidance and directing childrens productions. She has a Bachelors Degree in Theatre Studies from Wright State University and a Masters in Educational Theatre from New York University.
Max Jackson, ACTC Professor Emeritus of Music, is the Music Director, and ACTC Associate Professor Mary Shortridge is the Costume Coordinator.
Tickets are $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for children, students and seniors, and $8 for groups of 10 or more purchased in advance. Tickets may be reserved with major credit cards through the College bookstore (606) 326-2014. Unsold tickets will be available at the door for cash or check payment with photo ID.
